NBA Daily Wrap: McCollum goes big in Portland


There have been a number of high-scoring games for players over the past two weeks, and the latest one came last night when Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum put up 40 points in the team’s win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Blazers burn Bucks

A 40-point game from CJ McCollum gave the Portland Trail Blazers a 118-103 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Evan Turner had a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double, and Damian Lillard contributed 13 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Bucks were led by Nigerian-Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Khris Middleton had 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Brook Lopez put up 22 points and four rebounds.

Nets take Phoenix

The Brooklyn Nets beat the Phoenix Suns, 104-82, on the back of Caris LeVert’s 26 points and five rebounds, D’Angelo Russell had 15 points, six rebounds and three assists, and Spencer Dinwiddie ended the game with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 20 points and eight rebounds, rookie DeAndre Ayton had a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double, while Richaun Holmes also finished with a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Mavs beat Wizards

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Washington Wizards, 119-100. Rookie Luka Doncic had 23 points, six rebounds and three assists, Wesley Matthews added 22 points, and Harrison Barnes ended the game with a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double.

The Wizards were led by John Wall with a 24-point, 10-assist double-double, Otto Porter Jr had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Bradley Beal chipped in 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Hornets sting Hawks

Kemba Walker had 29 points, three rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the Charlotte Hornets’ 113-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Marvin Williams had 20 points and eight rebounds, while Jeremy Lamb and Malik both ended the night with 13 points.

Jeremy Lin led the Hawks with 19 points, Trae Young put up an 18-point, 10-assist double-double, Kent Bazebore had 16 points and four steals, and Alex Len recorded 12 points and three rebounds.
