NBA Daily Wrap: Irving leads huge Celtics OT comeback


Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris sent the game into overtime, but it was floor general Kyrie Irving’s outstanding performance that sealed the win over the Phoenix Suns Thursday night.

Celtics down Suns

A 39-point game from Kyrie Irving helped the Boston Celtics beat the Phoenix Suns 116-109 in overtime. Marcus Morris had 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Jaylen Brown also had 17 points with six rebounds, and terry Rozier finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 38 points, three rebounds, nine assists and three steals, TJ Warren had 29 points and seven rebounds, and rookie DeAnre Ayton ended the night with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Bucks beat Warriors

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Warriors 134-111 in Golden State. Eric Bledsoe had 26 points, four rebounds and six assists, Nigerian-Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists, and Malcolm Brogdon had 20 points and three rebounds.

The Warriors were led by Klay Thompson with 24 points, three rebounds and three assists, Kevin Durant had 17 points, five rebounds and nine assists, and Quinn Cook finished with 15 points and five assists.

Thunder stop Rockets

The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Houston Rockets 98-80 on the back of Paul George’s 20-point, 11-rebound double-double, Steven Adams also had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Terrence Ferguson and Gambian-German guard Dennis Schroder both put up 14 points.

James Harden led the Rockets with 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, Congolese/Angolan-Swiss center Clint Capela had 17 points, seven rebound and three assists and PJ Tucker ended the game with 13 points and three rebounds.

Blazers burn Clippers

The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 116-105. Damian Lillard had 25 points, four rebounds and four assists, CJ McCollum had 23 points and seven rebounds, and Jusuf Nurkic finished with 16 points and nine rebounds.

The Clippers were led by Danilo Gallinari with 20 points and five rebounds, Lou Williams had 20 points, three rebounds and seven assists, while Montrezl Harrell and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander both scored 19 points.
