NBA Daily Wrap: Big night for African talent

Sunday proved to be a great night for two African big men as Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks past the Sacramento Kings in Milwaukee, and Serge Ibaka put up a career-high 34 points in the Toronto Raptors’ win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bucks beat Kings

A 26-point, 15-rebound, 11-assist triple-double by Nigerian-Greek All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo helped the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Sacramento Kings, 144-109. Eric Bledsoe had 17 points and six rebounds, Ersan Ilyasova added 15 points and four rebounds, while Malcolm Brogdon and Pat Connaughton both scored 13 points.

The Kings were led by Justin Jackson with 22 points, Buddy Hield had 19 points and four rebounds, De’Aaron Fox contributed 15 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Marvin Bagley III and Troy Williams combined for 22 points with 11 apiece.

Raptors take LA

The Toronto Raptors beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 121-107, on the back of Congolese forward Serge Ibaka’s 34-point, 10-rebound double-double. Kyle Lowry also had a double-double with 21 points and 15 assists, and the third Raptors triple of the night came from Cameroonian forward Pascal Siakam with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers with 24 points and five rebounds, LeBron James had 18 points and six assists, Brandon Ingram chipped in 16 points and three assists, while Lonzo Ball finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Blazers burn Wolves

The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 111-81. Jusuf Nurkic had a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double, Damian Lillard put up 18 points, five rebounds and five assists, CJ McCollum added 16 points and three rebounds, and Meyers Leonard also finished with a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Timberwolves were led by Karl-Antony Towns with 23 points, five rebounds and three assists, Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and three steals, and Taj Gibson added eight points and eight rebounds.

Nets down Sixers

The Brooklyn Nets beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 122-97. Rondae Hollis Jefferson had 21 points, six rebounds and three assists, D’Angelo Russell also scored 21 points with six assists, and Caris LeVert had 20 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Ben Simmons led the Sixers with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double, Cameroonian All-Star center Joel Embiid also had a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, JJ Redick scored 15 points and Dario Saric put up 14.

The Rest

The Phoenix Suns beat the Memphis Grizzlies 102-100 on the back of Devin Booker’s 25 points, Jon Wall scored 26 points in the Washington Wizards’ 108-95 win over the New York Knicks, and Aaron Gordon led the Orlando Magic to a 117-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs with 26 points.
